Day 11 - The Father's Love

Day 11 – The Father’s Love

JOHN 5:19-23

Jesus gave them this answer: “I tell you the truth, the Son can do nothing by Himself; He can do only what He sees His Father doing, because whatever the Father does the Son also does. For the Father loves the Son and shows Him all He does. Yes, to your amazement He will show Him even greater things than these. For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son gives life to whom He is pleased to give it. Moreover, the Father judges no one, but has entrusted all judgment to the Son, that all may honor the Son just as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father, who sent Him” (John 5:19-23).

When a father has a genuine love for his offspring, his generosity is boundless. When a child knows the love of a father, there is true freedom to act without shame or embarrassment. When God becomes your Father, the possibilities are endless—even to the point of raising the dead.

Reflection

  1. How deep is a father’s love for his children?
  2. Did Jesus honor His Father? Did His Father honor Him?
  3. Are you willing to do the same?

SONG OF SOLOMON 7:10-12

I belong to my lover, and his desire is for me. Come, my lover, let us go to the countryside, let us spend the night in the villages. Let us go early to the vineyards to see if the vines have budded, if their blossoms have opened, and if the pomegranates are in bloom—there I will give you my love (Song of Solomon

7:10-12).

How wonderful and simple—when we belong to each other, our natural inclination is to think of the one who loves us. We want to bless that person and do marvelous deeds to demonstrate our desire to be with that person. This has been our Lord’s intention from the beginning— that we would love one another. True love is often spoken of in terms of possession or belonging. What greater joy is there than to be close to the one we love more than any other—God?

Reflection

  1. What do you think of walking alongside Father God?
  2. Are you comfortable belonging to Him?
  3. Do you receive His outpouring of love?
