Day 13 - What Do You Have to Offer?

Day 13 – What Do You Have to Offer?

JOHN 6:9-11

“Here is a boy with five small barley loaves and two small fish, but how far will they go among so many?”

Jesus said, “Have the people sit down.” There was plenty of grass in that place, and the men sat down, about five thousand of them. Jesus then took the loaves, gave thanks, and distributed to those who were seated as much as they wanted. He did the same with the fish (John 6:9-11).

A young lad made an offering to God. He had enough to feed himself and a few friends, but he offered it all to Jesus. Jesus did more with this small offering than anyone ever could have imagined. Look what God can do with the generosity of just one.

Reflection

  1. How do you feel when you are asked to give an offering?
  2. What do you think the Lord wants to do with your offering?
  3. What does this story tell you about how God blesses His children?

JOSHUA 5:10-12

On the evening of the fourteenth day of the month, while camped at Gilgal on the plains of Jericho, the Israelites celebrated the Passover. The day after the Passover, that very day, they ate some of the produce of the land: unleavened bread and roasted grain. The manna stopped the day after they ate this food from the land; there was no longer any manna for the Israelites, but that year they ate of the produce of Canaan (Joshua 5:10-12).

God miraculously fed the children of Israel manna for 40 years as they walked through the wilderness. Finally, they crossed the River Jordan, entered the Promised Land, and ate of its produce. Israel then celebrated the Passover. The next day, God stopped providing manna, the bread that fell from Heaven, which had sustained Israel in the wilderness for 40 years.

Reflection

  1. Why did God use food to demonstrate His love for Israel?
  2. How do you think Israel felt when they entered the Promised Land?
  3. How do you feel when God blesses you? Or when God is silent?
  4. How important is it that Israel celebrates the Passover?
